The House of Scalamandre
We discovered Lanai on a trip to the Scalamandré archives, unearthing the original hand-printed wallpaper document from a dusty shelf. Immediately, we saw potential in the design’s exuberant tropical vibe and unique layout. A central bamboo stem anchors the pattern’s flourishing array of leaves, buds, and blooms, making the pattern structured, yet all-over. Feminine yet bold, Lanai is a fresh-faced floral that will enliven a powder room or uplift dining room walls.
This reproduction of a late 17th-century French document was originally created for bed draperies in The Hermitage, a historical plantation and museum located in Davidson Country, Tennessee owned by Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States. The original fabric was hand-printed at the Scalamandré mill in Long Island City, giving this classic design a touch of both company history and national history. We are excited to present Andrew Jackson Floral in its latest incarnation as a striking new wallpaper. With stylized blooms and climbing boughs, this seventeen-ready to grace the walls of a master bedroom or add panache to a foyer.

Originally introduced in 1999 as a hand-printed fabric that continues to sell today, Edwin’s Covey features a family of quails enjoying a quiet moment amidst a verdant patch of land. Delicate linework lends depth to the feathers and leaves, while the pattern’s half-drop layout creates a gentle rhythm. Embedded in the name of the design is a nugget of company history: “Edwin” refers to Edwin Bitter, husband of Adrianna Bitter, daughter of Franco and Flora Scalamandré. This seventeen-color print has been rescaled for the wall and comes in soft, nature-inspired palettes ideal for sunrooms and kitchens.

Raphael is one of our most popular printed wallpapers. The pattern gives you treetops in a wide range of color combinations. The inspiration for this pattern was partly taken from central park in new york – a leafy park surrounded by glass-and-concrete skyscrapers and beautiful contrast to the bustling city. The pattern is also inspired by antique tapestries, where stylized leaves are often shown in fields of light and shade. Design: daniel långelid

Based on an early 18th-century French document, Chinoise Exotique is a grand design depicting Chinese figures hunting exotic Indian animals. This pattern is a classic example of the kinds of chinoiserie patterns developed for export to the European market in the early 1700s. These fabrics became so popular that France passed a law banning them from sale out of fear that they would collapse the French textile market.
Pine gray is a wallpaper depicting branches of pine in white on a grey background. In Japan, the pine symbolizes long life, honor, and youth. The tree can stand tall over centuries and stay green all year round with its lacy feathers, despite bitter coldness and snow. In our pattern, the pine branches cover the wall in a light, large-patterned dance. Vivid, with serenity.
