This flat plate forms part of Villeroy & Boch's country-style pattern Audun Ferme. With this pattern, Villeroy & Boch exquisitely bridges past, present, and future inspired by copper-engraved designs from the turn of the last century. Pastoral scenes in black and white have been freshened up by a creamy yellow accent border and other graphic ornamentations. 4 patterns together yield a strong fashion statement to dress up your table or hang decorative plates on the wall. The 4 ranges are: Femme, Promenade, Fleur and Chase. Audun is a small village in what is now the Lorraine Provence of France and was the first pottery set up by the Boch members of the family.

This is a really elegant set of high-quality dishes. Creamy white with a brilliant sheen and weighty enough to feel substantial. They're beautiful to look at and to touch. Artesano plates sport only a miter cut edge, which makes the edge both wider and more interesting than a rounded edge. It also makes the plates look heavier than they actually are. The rice bowls are 1/4" thick, matching the plate edge and are perfectly plain. The pasta bowl is slightly thinner and has the same mitered edge. Like a diamond solitaire, this design is absolutely beautiful in its simplicity. Why did I choose this? I had bought accent pieces of hand-painted Polish pottery and needed basic service that would complement it, not compete. I couldn't find cream colored pottery that did what I needed, and so I went with porcelain, though the two don't normally pair. Artesano gave me what I needed, and it's simply beautiful with the Polish pottery AND on its own. Honestly, I pick them up again and again to enjoy the feel and elegant look! 5 stars in my book!.
