Perhaps William Morris’s most recognizable design, Strawberry Thief, was inspired by the thrushes that crept under Morris’s strawberry nets in his garden at Kelmscott Manor, Oxfordshire. The original pattern took several days to print using hand-carved woodblocks to build up the different colors, and ‘Strawberry Thief’ was consequently one of Morris’s firm’s most expensive cottons. While waiting to see the first piece printed, Morris endured sleepless nights in his lodgings at Merton Abbey. Designed in 1883, Strawberry Thief remains one of William Morris’s most popular and iconic designs. Strawberry Thief Deep Blue provides a depth of rich color featuring hues of muted red, teal and dark blue, partnered with pops of lighter tones to accentuate the detail within the design. This matte finish wallpaper invites the outdoors in, in a complementing and easy on the eye manner.

The song thrushes that grace William Morris’s Strawberry Thief design have been stealing hearts as well as berries since 1883. One of the most iconic Morris & Co. patterns of all time our interpretation is reimagined and expertly recoloured. Printed in England on 100% cotton satin cheeky birds perch on bowing branches pecking at invitingly plump strawberries. Strawberry Thief was first registered as a design in May 1883. A printed cotton textile its a rich indigo background was the result of William Morris’s scholarly research and experiments in the alchemical art of vegetable dyeing at his Queen’s Square workshops. Reputedly William Morris’s gardener cursed the thrushes at Kelmscott Manor for their rascally invasion of the family’s fruit patch yet the wild.
A beautiful and dynamic Morris design featuring perching and swooping birds against a network of foliage and an abundance of ripe pomegranates – some whole, some bursting open, and others getting pecked at by diving birds. The inspiration for this piece was William Morris’s much earlier pattern, ‘Fruit’, which similarly depicts luscious pomegranates amongst branches, leaves, and blooming pomegranate flowers. With nature as the focus, this vibrant and whimsical design is a fine exemplar of Morris’s characteristic style. Bird and Pomegranate Deep Green is a beautiful, statement design with its vivid richness in color. Displaying pops of muted terracotta, rosy pink, and cream against a multi-tonal sea of green. This matte-finish wallpaper would be an eye catching asset to any room.

This paper is even better than we imagined! It is gorgeous! My husband did some beautiful woodwork and then we used on the upper wall. We love it. My husband was worried at first about no paste. In the end, he said it was so easy to use he prefers that now!!!. Kathy. Farmington Hills, MI. 2024-12-11 16:54:17

If you want to go bold but not too bold, this is a great paper. The colors are subtle but the print is big and bold. It's the perfect "happy medium" for those who want to make a statement with wallpaper but don't want to go "all in" with color. The background color is very close to Benjamin Moore 1570 Gray Wisp (a gray that leans somewhat like a sage green with slight hints of blue) and the large stems & florals are similar in color to Benjamin Moore's more neutral Edgecomb Gray. Perfect for my client who wants to make a statement in her powder room but still wants to stay within her home's calming neutral color scheme.. AMANDA. BIRMINGHAM, AL. 2022-06-08 19:57:52
House of Hackney
Reminiscent of the lush color and luminous cheerfulness found in Gustav Klimt’s paintings of flower gardens, Hollyhocks was created especially for House of Hackney by American artist Kerry Simmons, based on her work of the same name. Repainted in a rich colorway, the print captures all the pastoral purity and romance of “cottage-core”, while our punk spirit is embedded in the print’s riot of flowers. Each roll sold enables House of Hackney to purchase and protect 35 square meters of forest, thanks to our partnership with the World Land Trust – the international conservation charity that safeguards our most vital natural ecosystems and threatened habitats, acre by acre.
Designed in 1892, Blackthorn was originally block-printed and features white blackthorn (or sloe) blossoms and violets with meadow flowers of red snakes head fritillaries and yellow daisies. The flowers bloom from a lattice of curling foliage, leaves, and stems in this iconic Morris pattern. Typical of Morris’ work, Blackthorn is a celebration of the beauty of nature. Blackthorn Plum contains a mixture of cranberry, mustard yellow, and terracotta tones, accompanied by accents of light greys and peach, laid upon a rich plum background. This wallpaper is finished with a matte finish, adding a contemporary feel to this classic design by Morris.
