I absolutely love my Great Horned Owl statue! I mounted it on a stump and put it in my hosta garden and it looks stunning! A word to the wise: I live in a woodland area and originally had my owl displayed toward the back of the lot, against a backdrop of tree trunks and other wood. Because of his color, which is a brown that matches the tree trunks almost entirely, he blended into the background and was hard to see. I moved it up closer and put it in front of a greener background, and now it pops! He has lots of detail and is very realistic looking. He seems very durable and I expect him to last for many, many years. He was worth every penny of the price! Just take into account your backdrop before you decide what color to order.. Bonnie. A bird that calls for happiness. In Japan, owls are seen as birds that call for happiness because in the Japanese pronunciation of owl, Fukurou, means, “let's be happy” hence a bird of good fortune. As part of the highly limited 2013 collection “Believe and You shall See,” this art piece pays homage to the studio’s Formosan roots with a nod of the head to an animal many hold dear to their hearts. In many cultures around the world, owls are interpreted as an omen of good fortune and blessing. They can be seen as wise, nurturing, or prophetic. To the many peoples of Taiwan, owls hold special sentiments, ranging from a guiding light in the night (to the Atayal indigenous) to a guardian of mothers and newborns (to the Bunun people). The scops owl is seen here alighted on a branch, their plumage glowing softly against what seems to be a starry night and the vague shape of a moon.
