The House of Scalamandre
This decorative tape is embroidered with a floral vine in a chain stitch technique resembling crewelwork. The allover patterning is stitched in ivory yarns against colorful linen grounds that complement the garden-inspired palette of Scalamandre's Botanica collection. The five-inch width is dramatic but versatile for use along curtain edges, roman shades, table skirts, chair seatbacks, and pillows.
The Flamme Embroidered Tape is inspired by an 18th-century fauteuil, or armchair, originally intended for Marie-Antoinette's grand cabinet intérieur at Versailles. The armchair boasts finely brocaded and appliquéd silk with botanical motifs. Based on the border of the armchair, this is a viscose-embroidered silk-and-cotton tape whose versatile and symmetrical design can be used in both traditional and contemporary environments.
The classical greek laurel leaf border is interpreted in silky cut velvet on a cotton satin ground, to create this timelessly elegant tape. The soft colorations layer beautifully with woven plains and textures to add a quiet accent of pattern in a traditional interior, on curtain panels, chair backs, pillows, and bed, chair, or table skirts.
The intricate field and tournament armor (ca. 1565) of Johann Wilhelm, Duke of Saxe-Weimar, is a finely crafted work attributed to the leading armorer of Augsburg, Germany, Anton Peffenhauser. The elaborate etched decoration inspired the creation of our Paisley Embroidered Tape, which displays the same floral teardrop pattern in alternating colors. Our tape is crafted with elegant viscose embroidery on the linen-and-cotton ground to replicate the armor’s detailing and uses a tone-on-tone palette to create both contrast and consistency.
This dramatic tape features a circle-and square link motif, embroidered in dense satin stitching against the cotton ground. Its bold motif and wideband are well suited to accenting upholstered chairs, pillows, and floor-length curtain panels.
Our Reine Embroidered Tape is inspired by an 18th-century fauteuil, or armchair, originally intended for Marie-Antoinette's grand cabinet intérieur at Versailles. The armchair boasts finely brocaded and appliquéd silk with botanical motifs. Made with viscose embroidery on cotton-satin tape, this floral decoration can add exquisite detail to the border of an upholstered ottoman or serve as a vertical element on Roman shades.
Inspired by 16th-century German armor intended for light cavalry or infantry use, our Archduke Embroidered Tape emulates the sleek, geometric design elements of the original, which was created in 1582 by the celebrated armorer Anton Peffenhauser. The armor’s decorative motif has been reimagined with texture and dimension for an artful addition to pillows, wallcoverings, or furniture pieces. Embroidered on a 3"-wide faux-leather ground, the tape uses padding to create dimension within a structured design.
A counterpart to the Gretel printed tape, Hansel embroidered tape is an updated play on Swedish huck embroidery. Machine embroidered with matte yarns, this multicolor tape makes a nuanced statement as a leading edge on drapes, or as an accent on small-scale seating. This sweet, floral tape has a charming folk art feel and an artisanal spirit.
The elegant loop design of this cotton tape is inspired by soutache, which is the flat decorative braid used to elaborately embellish clothing, especially uniforms. This simple and chic border is embroidered in creamy white viscose thread against a full array of soft and dramatic background hues, which are perfect for trimming curtains, pillows, and cushions.
Empire-style lampas with a bee design set in a laurel crown.
