"Road to Canton" is a gloriously fun interpretive pattern celebrating a journey through the countryside. Dogs, Asian pagodas, Ginko trees, and a boat ride down the river all join together in a whimsical pattern painted by John Loecke of Madcap Cottage. We offer two versions of the light-colored pattern in porcelain, and on our Delfern Bench in coral and celadon fabrics. Canton is a narrow jar rectangle-shaped lamp with a rectangle lucite base. Accented with aged brass hardware and crystal ball finial.
It's beautiful.. Bradley. STANFORDVILLE, NY. 2023-03-16 16:30:07
The colorful adaptation of a classic Indian chintz resembles linen printed fabric with exotic flowers and fauna. Catherine of Braganza, queen of King Charles II of England, brought Portuguese trade routes to the British East India Company, spurring fascination with such Asian goods and fabrics.

After a weekend in Southampton, the Madcap's Jason and John were inspired by the local lake with its glorious flora lily pad flowers. John dashed to paint his version of the picturesque weekend. The timeless painterly quality comes to life in a pattern that calls to mind an animal print. Originally painted by Madcap Cottage designer John Loecke, Mill Reef is one of our favorite patterns. Under the Madcap Cottage for PORT 68 collection, the Mill Reef lamp is a design classic. Scaled in a double gourd shape, this porcelain lamp works well next to the sofa, end table, or buffet. Available in indigo and green with white accents. The lamp will ship with our classic off-white hardback shade (as shown), but the Madcap gents suggest mixing it up with one of their patterned shades from their collection. We have also shown the lamp with Daffodil Isleboro Eve hardback shade. The sun porch in the Madcap's House of Bedlam is shown with a pair of lamps with the ever-so-happy, Daffodil Isleboro Eve shades. As the gents would say - "Bring the adventure home". Aged brass finished metal hardware. Metal ball finial.
To begin, it is a cute lamp, no doubt. But the colors depicted in the website's introductory photo is more grass and apple green than the lamp actually is. The greens are actually more olive, so less "madcap." The strokes of green appear more painted on top than fired within the glass. Finally, the lamp is much bigger than you think. In the website photos, it appears more squat and cute, but in reality it has the proportions of a midmod lamp. The picture is of the lamp next to a 70' tv.. Will-O-B. Palampores or tree-of-life patterns have origins in India, where the exotic designs were hand-painted and mordant dyed--then exported to Europe and England for use as elaborate bed hangings and curtains. Scalamandre's timeless tree-of-life print, Pondicherry, is offered in rich blues on cream crackled porcelain for today's classic interior. The grand scale of the exotic tree is softened with finely detailed flowers and foliage and is accented with small birds and animals. This is typical of this historic and favored fabric design. The large lamp in the Scalamandre Maison for PORT 68 collection is accented with solid brass hardware with highlights of chocolate brown on the glazed porcelain. Blackwood cap. Acrylic round base. Round-aged brass finished metal finial.

Georgia is our blue and white shaped temple jar in a modern floral pattern. It is accented with polished nickel hardware and a round lucite base. Includes a raised polished nickel ball finial. Pattern wraps around the temple jar.
beautiful lamp but the cream coloured lamp shade does not match with lamp. An off white or greyish white colour would be more sutiable. Now I need to pay extra for a custom lamp shade as lamp shades this large are not availalbe in the market.. Raouf. Richmond Hill, ON. 2024-06-30 10:48:50
Aegean is our transitional modern lamp of metal and stone. A circular aged brass finished metal ring is mounted on the rectangular marble base and complimented with an oval hardback shade. Metal ball final.
The lamp and shade are good quality for the price. The color was as expected from the photos. The scale of the lamp is bigger than I could visualize virtually but the extensive measurements provided do provide a lot of guidance.. Taylor. Atlanta, GA. 2024-04-20 18:17:21
