The House of Scalamandre
Palampores, or tree-of-life patterns, have our origins in India, where the exotic designs were hand-painted and mordant dyed, and exported to Europe and England for use as elaborate bed hangings and curtains. Scalamandré’s timeless tree-of-life print, Pondicherry, is reinterpreted in a palette of hues designed for today’s classic interior and translated on fabric. The grand scale of the exotic tree is softened with finely detailed flowers and foliage and is accented with the small birds and animals that are typical of this historic design. The vertically branching print is perfect for floor-length curtain panels, or as upholstery for roomy club and wing chairs.

Ascot linen print features a graceful vine of climbing roses and hollyhocks. The chic monochromatic palette and spare, silhouette-like rendering give this classic, pretty chintz design an entirely modern look. The medium-scale makes this print an easy option for adding an accent of pattern to an updated traditional or contemporary setting, like curtains or chair upholstery.

Originally introduced in 1999 as a hand-printed fabric that continues to sell today, Edwin’s Covey features a family of quails enjoying a quiet moment amidst a verdant patch of land. Delicate line work lends depth to the feathers and leaves, while the pattern’s half-drop layout creates a gentle rhythm. Embedded in the name of the design is a nugget of company history: “Edwin” refers to Edwin Bitter, husband of Adrianna Bitter, daughter of Franco and Flora Scalamandré.
For the price, this fabric should have been cut to be able to get two designs in center of the yard; instead partial design was on edges in order to get two partial designs - expert should have kept that in mind - looked like a remnant piece. Gaylene. Eagan, MN. 2021-08-15 06:41:55

I am disappointed with the quality of the linens and the customer service. I ordered the blue ines duvet and two shams in king sizes. First, the duvet and the shams are all of a different dye lot and do not match. Second, Perigold sent me one king sham and one standard size sham. Despite this was their mistake, they were not going to send the proper size sham for 4 months!. Claire. . 2025-01-14 22:10:49
