Centrifugal force influences the shape, but it is handled with wet newspaper. The collection is blown entirely free-hand, and no two pieces are identical.

The significance of ships and boats has always been present in Bertil Vallien’s life and work. Like an imaginary space, he has journeyed through the glass. He sails his boat, seeing men fishing and refugees fleeing for their lives. The similarity of the boat to a seed pod, which could contain any form of life, is intriguing. Bertil captures our curiosity, and if we give the sculpture some time, he makes us participants in the unknown journey that life presents. Fortress Vessel is part of Bertil Vallien’s anniversary collection, “Bertil Vallien: 60 Years with Kosta Boda” (1963–2023), and is handmade at Kosta Glassworks in Sweden with details in real 21-karat gold.

The Viva series was designed by Matti Klenell, who was inspired by historical fine glass and classic utility glass from Småland, Sweden. “I wanted to make a series that invites informal, spontaneous use and encourages socializing. Glassware with broad functionality that isn’t governed by traditional rules. Åsa Jungnelius' classic sculpture Mother of Pearl is now available as a smaller object in the Kosta Boda artist collection. Mother of pearl is uniquely shaped in hot glass and the color is poured into the scoop. The pattern is created individually by the mold. The crystal-clear pearl is hand-sculpted and the pieces are joined with heat in the hot shop at Kosta Glassworks.

Göran Wärff’s Mirage is a classic perfectly representing the glass master’s artistic oeuvre. The notions of ocean and nature are very present in these powerful art glass objects – freehand blown and shaped as a thin dish – appreciated for the optical effects enhanced by the light or movement in any room. Mirage is handmade in Kosta, Sweden, and is part of the Kosta Boda artist collection.

With a background as a professional rock guitarist, musical influences play a large part in Kjell Engman's work. The Swedish glass artist has created Fidji, an object of multiple colors merged into one whose shape bears a resemblance to the musical instrument organ pipe. The extraordinary art object is handmade at Kosta Glassworks in Sweden and is part of the Kosta Boda artist collection.

Happiness was inspired by one of Kjell Engman’s trips to the US, where he was captivated by a women’s gospel choir performance at a church, filled with singing and dancing.
