The lamp serves the purpose well for which it was purchased. It really brightens a dark room. There should be a note to install the lampshade upside down. Typically, you would put the lampshade on with the inner cross-pieces on the upper side of the shade. If you do that on this one, the light bulb sticks out above the shade. We are very pleased with the clock and the ease of assembling what little there was to do. There is one minor flaw. the battery holder for the pendulum is for batteries with a larger diameter. Normally available AA batteries don't stay in place. In addition, one of the contact springs had green corrosion on the surfaces that contact the base of a battery. We have cleaned the corrosion and will look for tubing that will add apparent size to the batteries.
