With its thick body, stout legs, wide draping ears, and that upturned head and joyful trunk, this little elephant adds a sense of shining delight anywhere it dwells in your home.
In Chinese culture, elephants are stable, dependable and symbolize auspiciousness. An elephant carrying a vase was a popular decoration subject because of its auspicious meaning. The words for “vase” and “elephant” are homonymic with “peace” and “signs,” thus coinciding with a Chinese proverb: “When there is peace, there are signs” (Tai ping you Xiang). Four directions and four elephants symbolize a gathering from all four corners. Together they rise in peace, auspiciousness, and the return of accomplishment. For friends, this is a blessing for synergy. For professionals, this is a blessing for rising success. For family, this is a blessing for the home. Following the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the symbol of the elephant and vase was mainly used by the imperial family.

The artists draw out the elephant’s humble and attentive nature, aggrandizing its ears while balancing the subject with immense detail in the texture of its skin. Floral patterns decorate throughout and the accompanying poetry reminds peacefully of gentleness and humility.

The elephant ambles forward, propelled by tension and its large mass - one can tell that it is a young elephant. It raises its head as if filling the vase on its back with water from its trunk. With a joyous smile, it walks toward success. Water is a symbol of fortune - where there is water, there is wealth. The elephant filling its trunk with water symbolizes the accumulation of fortune and luck. The image of an elephant with an uplifted trunk symbolizes dynamism and joy. Breaking from traditional confines, this design tout familiarity, and accessibility. This is Liuli’s take on art movements such as urban, pop, neo-pop, and super flat. Floral dolls are part of our heritage. It takes on a new look when rendered in liuli. Boasting an ample shape that captures and emits light through a floral body, each part of this sculpture is created with precision from form to detail. Does it even have eyes? It doesn’t seem like it but they’re there. Our designers have taken an abstract approach, using the blank space to frame out and allude to their presence.
White Tiger represents the element gold, the western direction, and autumn. This mythical creature also functions as a virtuous god of war who supports the righteous and punishes the wicked, and who bestows a variety of blessings, including safety, wealth, and conjugal bliss. In this piece, White Tiger is portrayed as a combination of the imposing strength of a real tiger and the majesty of a deity. The element wind traditionally associated with the tiger - extremely difficult to express in sculpture - is represented by the streamers briskly fluttering behind. White Tiger is depicted on top of the world, poised for a leap, roaring into the distance, ready to overcome any and all challenges. Associated with the four quadrants of the vault of heaven is the Azure Dragon of the East, the Vermillion Bird of the South, the White Tiger of the West, and the Black Tortoise of the North; in the center is the Qilin (unicorn). Each region corresponds to one of the five elements: metal (west), wood (east), water (north), fire (south), and earth (center). Moving across the night sky, the stars connect all life to the five elements. When the universe and elements are aligned, harmony ensues.

The world is connected in a myriad of intricate ways by the formless dao - a way of existing in the world…like an emotion or a conscious perception. Fish come from oceans, rivers, and ponds to meet upon this hulu gourd. In pursuit of the heart’s dao, people come together and relationships are formed. In China, this is called yuan, a word akin to fate or destiny. Here two fish meet and look toward the same future, in harmony with each other and the times. From the front, the fish appear in delicate relief. From the back, the high-polish and engraved surface implies the presence of deep waters. Front and back together cleverly the internal and external qualities of existence and non-existence.
