The House of Scalamandre
Pine gray is a wallpaper depicting branches of pine in white on a grey background. In Japan, the pine symbolizes long life, honor, and youth. The tree can stand tall over centuries and stay green all year round with its lacy feathers, despite bitter coldness and snow. In our pattern, the pine branches cover the wall in a light, large-patterned dance. Vivid, with serenity.

Reminiscent of the lush color and luminous cheerfulness found in Gustav Klimt’s paintings of flower gardens, Hollyhocks was created especially for House of Hackney by American artist Kerry Simmons, based on her work of the same name. Repainted in a rich colorway, the print captures all the pastoral purity and romance of “cottage-core”, while our punk spirit is embedded in the print’s riot of flowers. Painted with watercolor wildflowers against a ground of color, the much-loved Artemis motif returns to its roots in nature. Inspired by our hero, the celebrated 19th-century designer William Morris (whose work, like ours, was often a stylized depiction of British wildness), this print also pays homage to iconic Vogue editor Diana Vreeland Garden in hell room, which too unfurled with psychedelic blooms.
