Pagoda river is a very early design from the Eton Rural collections of the 1910s. At the end of the 19th century and into the early 20th century Chinese and Japanese artwork were popular as products from the East became widely available in Europe for the first time. The original fabric was rotary block printed and the characteristics of the printing technique have been retained in the new design.

A modern approach to the ancient tradition of hand-painted plum and cherry blossom decor. The layered blossoms and branches represent a modern approach to chinoiserie. The inspiration of the plum or cherry blossoms represents the delicate fragility and the beauty of life. It’s a reminder that life is almost overwhelmingly beautiful but that it is also tragically short. When the cherry blossom trees bloom for a short time each year in they serve as a visual reminder of how precious and how precarious life is. Sophisticated chinoiserie for the most discriminating interior designers in the world.

Beautiful and richly colored, Chinoiserie Hall is inspired by an archive wallpaper called Chinese Magpie, believed to be designed by William Turner (1867-1936) and produced by Jeffrey & Co. In our interpretation, intricate budgies, stitched in viscose to achieve a subtle iridescence, perch on delicate branches amongst springtime blossom and neat buds.
