This One-of-a-Kind Hand-Knotted 1920s Zardozi Yellow/Green 2'6" x 4' Silk Area Rug breathtaking piece is almost too beautiful to describe. It is a piece of work that must be experienced. This antique zardozi embroidery features a floral theme that is encrusted with metallic thread and gems. It was created in the early 20th century India and would make an excellent accessory for a garden or nature-inspired room. The brilliant florals patterns accented by metallic threads would make a beautiful wall decoration or table covering for a special occasion. Zardozi textiles are hand embroidered and come from areas throughout the Near East and Central Asia. The base of this piece is dark and creates an excellent background to show off the wide range of colors within the piece. The gorgeous colors of the piece would be the perfect addition to bring in the feeling of a summer garden in full bloom. The design of this piece is inspired by Persian rugs in the medallion pattern; only the pattern and style have been adapted to represent a distinctively Indian style. The floral motifs are much denser than you would expect in a Persian piece. In terms of color, this piece would complement a range of colors and would add a splash of liveliness to a room of grays or neutrals. Mixed metals are a popular theme in this year’s design magazines. It is an awe-inspiring piece with an intricate level of detail. Historically, zardozi embroidery was used for the inner walls of royal tents. They were also used as the formal trappings of horses and elephants for formal processionals. This antique rug is certainly befitting of its royal heritage. It is the perfect addition to this year’s favorite design styles that include nature-inspired themes and saturated, intense colors. One can only imagine the hours of work that it took to create this piece. The work shows an exceptional level of skill in the hands that created it. This is a special piece that has an almost sublime quality. It would make the perfect piece for a special occasion, such as a wedding or other special celebration. This rug will bring a touch of elegance into any interior space.

Delightfully vibrant and imaginative, this exciting textile from the Ottoman Empire features oversized botehs and incredibly detailed flowering vine scroll detail work. Neatly and effectively divided into three compartments of equal size, this antique Ottoman embroidery is rich with impeccable detail work over just about every square inch. Each of the three equal compartments is bounded by a complex border in which a pattern of delightfully detailed floral elements of red and botehs of blue alternate.
